Redmi Note 10 5G Review

The Redmi Note family is Xiaomi’s largest. The Redmi Note 10 5G, among all these proposals, comes to be the brother with greater connectivity at a lower price. Along with the new Redmi Note 10S, the Note 10 5G is one of the latest additions to the family, with competitive specifications below 200 euros.

We have thoroughly analyzed the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G, intending to know its space in the Redmi Note catalog and its segment. Is it possible to shine in the 5G mid-range for less than 200 euros? Let’s try to check this review out.
A design that already sounds familiar and a screen that convinces

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G is great, but it is convincing in hand.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G follows the same lines as its brothers at the design level. The camera module is the main protagonist, protruding quite a bit from the body and collecting a lot of dirt (even if we clean it, it almost instantly catches dust again). The device’s body is built-in plastic; Xiaomi achieves a finish that is not matte but repels fingerprints and dirt relatively well.

The frames are not badly used, although the lower chin is prominent.

This Redmi Note 10 5G is quite ergonomic, thanks to both the curvature of its back and to the fact that, in terms of dimensions, it is not one of the largest and heaviest in its segment. On the front, we have well-used frames, except for the lower chin, which is quite prominent.

The fingerprint reader is very well integrated into the button panel of the terminal.

The keypad is well built, and the side fingerprint reader is perfectly integrated into the side, looking like one more button. There is no slack or dance on the buttons, giving a pretty solid and robust feel.

The panel has good brightness and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

We have 6.5 inches with Full HD + resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and IPS technology regarding the screen. Despite being a very economical mobile, we liked that it reaches 500 nits of brightness, something that allows us to see the screen well even if there is full solar incidence. The color representation can be improved (although we can calibrate slightly from settings) and the correct viewing angles.

It will not be one of the leading screens in its price range, but having 90Hz and a good brightness level is a very good point. The hole in the screen is quite large, slightly distracting when we are watching multimedia content. Despite this, the experience with the panel is correct, considering the price range in which the terminal is framed.

To finish with the multimedia section, we will talk about audio. This is one of the weakest points of the Redmi Note 10 5G, which does not stand out mainly for the audio. The sound is canned in almost all volume ranges, the bass has hardly any presence, and the overall quality is fair. The good news is that we have a headphone jack to enjoy wired audio.

MediaTek processor and great battery

Internally, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G has 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB UFS 2.2 of internal memory in the case of our unit (part of 64 GB), and a Density 700U from MediaTek. The performance is more than correct for day-to-day tasks such as WhatsApp, browsing social networks, and some not very heavy games. If we demand it, it is not difficult to make the lag appear, and it is that MIUI has it easy to fill the insufficient RAM of the phone.

The Redmi Note 10 5G can move heavy games easily, as long as we configure the graphics modestly.

Despite this, the user experience is correct, and we can even play installments like Genshin Impact or PUBG Mobile with the settings in medium-low without too much problem. We miss a couple of gigs of extra RAM, as the phone is prone to shutting down apps like the camera, some games, or even Chrome, although the overall experience is satisfactory. We leave you with the performance tests of this Redmi Note 10 5G.
As for the software, we have MIUI 12 and Android 11, waiting for MIUI 12.5 to land on this terminal. As usual in MIUI, we have a good dose of bloatware and advertising; almost all of this is avoidable if we make the correct settings.

Mini Xiaomi

We want the ROM to come cleaner from the factory, which is already achieved with MIUI 12.5. The positive news is that it is a very customizable layer, with useful apps such as Notes, Xiaomi’s browser, Game Turbo, or a good theme engine to personalize the phone to the maximum.

Xiaomi battery

At the battery level, we exceeded eight hours of the screen without minor problem, all with intensive use and 90Hz active. This puts us at a day and a half and even two days of use, a good figure thanks in part to the 5,000mAh battery. To charge it, we have a fast charge of 18W, so it will take about two hours to have it fully charged.

MIUI 12.5: all the news and Xiaomi phones that will be updated
Three cameras on the back, although only one stands out

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G repeats the strategy of terminals like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T: a 48-megapixel camera accompanied by two two-megapixel sensors (macro and depth) that do not invite us too much to use them. Before we talk about the results, let’s look at the camera app to see what it offers.

Xiaomi camera

Xiaomi’s camera app is quite complete, although it still does not work smoothly. There are some hitches when switching between modes, and we have even suffered some occasional freezes. However, we have practically everything that can be asked of a camera application. Integration with Google Lens, portrait, time-lapse, night mode, deactivate automatic HDR, filters, AI mode, etc. A complete app that we ask for a little extra in fluency.

Photography with the main camera

Even with HDR active, there are burns.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G fails to stand out in good light. In general, a better work of the HDR is needed, which could rescue extra information in shadows and control the highlights a little better. There is not too much sharpness either, since neither the sensor nor the processing help obtains it.
