The quality of construction of mobile phones is required in expensive terminals, in the highest range. The prices invite us not to overlook anything.
That is not always the case in the mid-range, but it is noticeable when a manufacturer decides to take this section to a level above what we pay. It is just what happens with the Vivo V23, which has two finishes, each more curious.

The model we have been able to test is the black one, which has a metallic frame with straight lines and a camera module that houses the three rear sensors. The back is matte with a slight touch of gloss when hit by light. The word we are looking for to describe it is elegance.
Also, if we want something more striking, we have the Sunshine Gold model that directly changes color when we leave it in the sun, as the realme 9 Pro Plus does, but in our opinion, with more elegant tones.

The only drawback that can be put on the mobile is that the current design can become somewhat uncomfortable in the hand if we hold it for a long time. Of course, it seems that Vivo has thought about that because it gives us a silicone cover in the sales package, which I have used a lot on this occasion since I have been on a trip.
On a day-to-day basis, I prefer to go without a case, but it is always appreciated that there is one in the sales box and the 44 W charger that we will talk about later.
The screen meets in a mobile of 500 euros

Not long ago, the difference between the mid-range and high-end in this section lay mainly in the panel technology. Now that is not so.
As shown in several mobiles, OLED panels are no longer exclusive to terminals of 1,000 euros, and even models of less than 250 use them. Thus, the differences are more subtle, but they still exist.
The Vivo V23 5G screen is good, as good as we could expect from a mobile at this price, with perhaps one caveat.
The diagonal is 6.44 inches, which, together with the straight edges and very contained frames, makes the mobile acceptably compact, at least by current standards.
The notch of the dual front camera attracts attention, but as we always say, you get used to it quickly, and it is understood that a perforation that should be almost as large has not been opted for.
The screen is compatible with HDR10 + technology, which we do not always see at these prices, and the colors are perfect. Even the maximum brightness has proven sufficient even in sunlight, something that Samsung’s direct rival, the Galaxy A53 5G, cannot say.
The exception we talked about before is in the refresh rate. This model has a panel with a maximum frequency of 90 Hz, far from the 120 we see in models such as the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ or the Galaxy A53 itself.
Not that this is a big problem, the jump from 60 to 90 is always more noticeable than from 90 to 120, but for 499 euros we can already demand that figure.
Yes, we have seen that the screen sensor that makes it turn off when talking on the phone does not always work. It may be a software issue that can be fixed with an update.

Many might think that 499 euros are a high price for a model with the MediaTek Dimensity 920, a mid/high-end chipset that we have seen in lower-priced devices.
And yes, realme or Xiaomi terminals indeed have lower prices, but it is also true that they have much less memory than this Vivo V23.

The only variant sold in Spain, which is the one that has that price, has no less than 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, which we do not even see in most high-end mobiles. The first uses LPDDR4X technology, and the second is UFS 2.2. That is to say, the jump concerning the cheapest terminals is noticeable, although the same memories are not used as in the high range.
Only this explains the price increase compared to other models, but, as we will see later, more features make us start to think that it is worth paying what this terminal is worth.

The MediaTek Density 920 is a very solvent processor, as we have been saying for several months in the different analyzes we have done of mobiles that use it. And if on top of that, you share a bed with memories of that caliber, we can only say that you will not have any problem in terms of the performance of this mobile, whatever you do.
The only downside we put What’s here about this model is that it doesn’t have two speakers, which almost all of its competitors, even much cheaper models, already incorporate.
Connectivity is expected from a more expensive mobile, with Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, and NFC, but also with the shortcomings of the high-end, such as the memory card, the radio, the microSD tray, or the headphone jack.
